Summer and Fall 2023 EVENTS AND SHOWS

......SURVIVAL of the Fittest

Texas in the late Summer is ...well Hotter than ....you know what!  But, we keep going!

My Summer has been very busy to this point....Lots of outdoor (Plein Air) painting and lots of studio painting as well.

I have completed two "YOUR RANCH, YOUR VIEW" custom painting since April, and that is so rewarding.  To capture the image that the client wants and see them be so happy when they see it hanging in their home....well, it gives me so much satisfaction.  In fact it thrills me.

Art is about sharing, and when my art connects with another person, it is so rewarding for me.  Painting an idea and seeing it communicate with another person is ....well what art is all about.

Next things for me include.....Showing in the Outdoor Painter's Society Miniature show...Aug. 1-15 in Corsicana, Texas

Participating in the HISTORIC FORT WORTH ART show on September 7 and 8.

October 7-15, I will be PAINTING THE TOWN in New Braunfels, Texas *a week long Plein Air event" and sale.

Meanwhile.....my daily painting keeps me excited...portraits and landscapes...plus an ocassional  pet portrait.

Email me anytime to ask about my art.  See my work at the ADOBE WESTERN ART GALLERY in the Stockyards, North Fort Worth area.

2023....Alast.....Spring May be Arriving Sooner than Later

Time flies when you are having fun....is what they say....I am here to tell you that in my case, I am almost always having fun.  So...time does fly for me.  Golfers love to golf, writers love to write, cooks, like to...yes, cook!  I love to paint, love to be outdoors, admiring God's work and hoping that I can express my joy with every stroke that I make.

A few weeks ago, I went to the Texas Hill Country with the Outdoor Painter's Society....we are the happiest people you have ever seen.  We were, of course, painting!  One thing about painters who love being in the open air, we are all so complimentary and helpful to each other.  We never are complaining about the weather....only trying to layer up, or layer down, so we can PAINT!

If you take a look at my page, you will see that there are a few new paintings here....I am a bit lazy, so if you are looking for something special, it is best to contact me....I am happy to send images.  By the way, my paintings are always framed when shipped, unless you ask for it unframed...in which case, the price is usually the same.  Email me, text me, AND TELL ME YOUR THOUGHTS, what you like.  I am having fun going to ranches in Texas and painting favorite views for the ranchers.  .....I love to paint!  Happy Spring.

New Year 2022.....New Experiences!

The first month of 2022 is almost over, and my year is full of plans, painting, and expectations.  How about you?

First and foremost, I have been painting commissioned works for the last few weeks....and I have 2 portrait commissions in the planning stage and will begin to lay them our and start the paintings in the next few days.  It is so exciting to be asked to do portraits of people that you know....and don't know....When a perfect stranger calls me and proposes a special portrait of a loved one, it is such an honor!  It is also a big vote of confidence....sometimes the person has more confidence in me than I think that I have in myself...but, what a compliment!

I find that I work and stretch myself, and I have become a better artist as a result of my desire to produce a painting that these people, who trust in me, will love and cherish.  This is true whether is is a portrait or a large landscape of a ranch or property.

Thank you to all of my patrons, collectors, and friends who have invested in me during 2021,,,,and earlier.

.....other things on my upcoming calendars:.    Knee replacement .....Painting workshops.....travel with Outdoor Painters Society...to name a few.

Please contact me with your questions and comments....I love to visit with my art friends and collectors....

See you soon....

SPRING AND SUMMER .....PLEIN AIR, FESTIVALS AND MORE PAINTING!

Mark your calendars for MAY 15....

I will be in Hico, Texas all day on May 15, for the first annual Hico ART and WINE festival...

This is sponsored by the Hico Chamber of Commerce and it promises to be a fun day to get out in the sun, leave your mask at home if you are vaccinated...and drink a little wine, shop a little bit, and enjoy the art which will be plentiful....

Besides "yours truly"....there will be many well known artist who will be offering their work for viewing and purchasing.  My painting friend and I will be hosted by The Sugar Moon Antique store, located just across the street from the Midland Hotel.  Our work will be both inside and outside the beautiful antique shop, and my friend and I will be set up painting on the front sidewalk....We love doing this...people drop by and talk and shop....we just love our visitors.  Often they give you suggestions of what they like, and we do accept commissions to fit the needs and wants of our "fans".

I have been lazy about posting new works, and I promise to do better...

ALSO, BE SURE TO VISIT OUR ARTIST GALLERY IN THE MONTGOMERY ANTIQUE MALL IN Fort Worth WHEN YOU ARE IN TOWN.

Artist Mindset.....Painting with a certain Mindset

This is my first blog on my new website.....YAY.....

Art comes in all sizes, styles, subjects, framed for the wall, unframed until ....or not framed at all.  Over the ages, artists craved to create.

Prior to modern times, to see a painting meant that one had to go to a museum, or anyplace with art hanging to actually see art. But still, artists were creating and these created things were somewhere.  Located mostly where people never saw them.

I was strictly a watercolor artist until 2 years ago when I decided to see how painting with oils would be for me.  I began going to a weekly painting group and I was able to see how other painters paint, and learn something from each of them....like the old Masters did!

Now, as I reflect back.....I think about Why am I drawn to this subject?  Why am I seeing this particular sparkly of light here and not there?

What is my goal with this artwork?

While thinking deeply about my art as well as others art....I came to a conclusion.  I am only painting to get better at painting and to portray my subject in a way that it is authentic to what drew me there to begin with.  I hope others enjoy it, connect with it....I cannot guess whether it will resonnate with another person or not...I hope so, but that was not my focus.  My paintings are all for me...and I like to share them with others.   The process it the most important part to me....getting better.
